"FutboLucha" is Coming This Sunday!
COMMERCE CITY, CO (Friday, April 4, 2008) – The Colorado Rapids and D Sound Entertainment announced today details surrounding “FutboLucha 2008”, the first soccer and wrestling entertainment event of this magnitude ever held in the United States.
“FutboLucha 2008” will be held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park during the Cinco de Mayo weekend on Sunday, May 4, 2008 in conjunction with the Rapids’ home match against DC United at 1:00pm MT. The event will mark the first-ever officially-sanctioned Lucha Libre event in the U.S. of this size and featuring this many superstars of the Mexican Lucha Libre.
“FutboLucha 2008” will include a festival featuring live bands and vendors all day at the stadium, the Rapids’ match vs. DC, and the “El Todo X El Todo” official Lucha Libre tour taking place in a specially-designed ring on the stadium field itself from 4:30-7pm.
In the Mexican culture, Lucha Libre has become more than a show, it’s a tradition. “FutboLucha 2008” will feature legends of the Lucha Libre Mexicana such as: EL HIJO DEL SANTO, RAYO DE JALISCO JR, BLUE DEMON JR., MASCARA SAGRADA, BLACK FISH, MYSTYCO (El Original de Juarez), ANIBAL JR, HIJO DE 100 CARAS, MASCARITA SAGRADA, PARQUITA, BRACITO DE PLATA, and PENTAGONCITO. Twelve total wrestlers will take part in the festivites!
“FutboLucha 2008” will begin at 10:00am on Sunday, May 4, with kickoff of the Rapids vs. DC United game at 1:00 pm and the Lucha Libre event beginning at 4:30pm. The festival will feature entertainment for the entire family during the day including games, food, a beer garden, attractions, live music, many exhibitors all surrounding the Rapids’ home contest, and Lucha Libre Mexicana.
Following the Rapids match, fans will exit Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and be able to enjoy the festival outside the stadium while the evening’s second attraction is set. At 4:00 pm, fans holding combination tickets for both events will be allowed to re-enter Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Fans looking to attend both the game and the Lucha Libre event can purchase a combination ticket for $30.
