Brandy Lay joined the Rapids during the 2012 preseason, and bringing extensive sports experience in the state of Colorado to his position as Equipment Manager. In the role, Lay supervises and organizes the distribution, maintenance and inventory of game uniforms, practice gear and training equipment for the Rapids players and coaches, making sure the team is ready for all conditions, both in Denver and on the road.
Lay has assisted many different Colorado teams in recent years, working in-game production roles for the Denver Broncos, CU Buffaloes, AFA Falcons, CSU Rams and Colorado Rapids. From 1999-2001, Lay was the Director of Team Travel for the Colorado Rockies, where he arranged all aspects of team travel for the club during both the seven-week spring training and six-month regular season, managing a budget of approximately $2.5 million for the baseball operations department. Lay also previously served for two and a half years as the Rockies’ Assistant Director of Public Relations.
A Colorado native, Lay grew up in Loveland and attended Thompson Valley High School before moving on to Bethany College (Kan.) where he played defensive back on the school’s NAIA nationally ranked football team. A diehard Liverpool F.C. fan, Lay can often be found during the off-season on the ice as a goaltender for recreational hockey teams.
