Media Information Guidelines

The Colorado Rapids Media Relations Department would like to welcome media to the club’s 19th season in Major League Soccer. It is our goal to assist all working media in their coverage of the team, and the club has established the following guidelines to maintain an efficient and professional environment for all members of the press.

Parking

All parking at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is free, and there is no designated media lot, however the Victory North parking lot is closest to the Media Entrance. Media members are welcome to take the closest parking spot available upon arrival.

Media Areas

Credentialed media should enter the stadium at the Media Entrance at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, located on the west side of the stadium between gates G and H. The Media Entrance opens two hours prior to the game and two-and-a-half hours prior to international games or doubleheaders.

The Press Box at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is located on the third level of the stadium, and can be accessed by the stairs or the elevator at the Media Entrance.

Photographers can reach field level via the stairs between Sections 131 and 132. These stairs are on the west side of the stadium, near the Media Entrance.

Access to the locker rooms requires walking to the north building on the concourse level, taking the stairs or elevator to the bottom level and walking to the northeast corner of the building where the visitor and home locker rooms are located.

Press Box Guidelines

The Press Box at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is on the stadium’s third level, and opens two hours prior to kickoff at Rapids matches. Admittance is limited to working media members with credentials only, and the Press Box is a working environment for writers, reporters, broadcasters, and game personnel. Cheering is not permitted in the Press Box. Family members and guests will not be allowed in any working media areas. Abuse of the Press Box and media privileges will result in forfeiture of credentials.

The Press Box includes outdoor seating for all media members, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Food will be provided to working media when available.

Photographer Guidelines

All media photographers attending Colorado Rapids matches at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park are expected to maintain professional behavior and follow guidelines set forth by Major League Soccer.

Photographers may only shoot game action from field level; no photographs may be taken from the Press Box or seating areas. Prior to the game, photographers may move to midfield to shoot starting lineups, but immediately afterward are required to move behind one of the goal lines (either the north or south end of the field) and stay on that side for the entire half. Credentialed photographers may not switch ends of the field during the run of play, nor cross behind the benches.

No photographers are permitted on the field of play at any time, including pre- or postgame.

All credentialed photographers with video cameras are only permitted to film the first 15 minutes of each half of play.

Media members shooting or filming the game will be asked to wear a media bib for the duration of the match; photo bibs can be picked up on the press level in Radio Booth #4.

Locker Rooms and Pre- or Postgame Interviews

The Rapids and visitor locker rooms are located in the north building at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. In accordance with MLS policy, media have access to players at the locker rooms until 60 minutes before the game starts and again 15 minutes after the final whistle. Only working media members with prominently displayed credentials will gain admittance to the locker rooms. Your cooperation and professional courtesy is asked in maintaining a proper working atmosphere for postgame interviews. Absolutely no autographs are allowed during media access periods.

Interviews that need advance preparations or special accommodations by a Rapids player or staff member should be made in advance by calling or emailing the Rapids Media Relations Department. This includes all live television interviews for pre- and postgame.

All Rapids and Major League Soccer 2014 regular season media credentials will be honored for Rapids home games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and may also be used at other Rapids exhibition matches in the Denver area.
