Mackenzie Beauvais-Nikl is a 19-year-old graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School (Denver) and in her third season with the Rapids SOCO Unified soccer team. Beauvais-Nikl has competed in Special Olympics for six years, participating in basketball, cycling, snowboarding, soccer, softball, tennis and track.
She enjoys the social atmosphere of Special Olympics Colorado and has cultivated many friendships through the program. “Special Olympics allows me to just be me,” says Beauvais-Nikl. In February 2014, Mackenzie was one of 12 Special Olympics athletes from around the world selected to participate in the NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Basketball Game at the NBA All-Star game in New Orleans. She was also named the Outstanding Senior to her high school in January 2014.
Her favorite Rapids player of all time is Matt Pickens.
