Dylan Spencer first competed in Special Olympics last year as a member of the 2013 Rapids SOCO Unified Soccer team.
The 21-year-old graduate of Arapahoe Community College plays outside midfielder. He has also ran cross country and played volleyball. Spencer was a member of the Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band for one year.
He has a Human Performance degree and also volunteers for non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity and Project CURE in addition to being a Special Olympics Unified Partner. “Special Olympics has allowed me to change my perspective on how I view myself and others. I have learned to be more honest with myself and to treat others respectfully and equally,” Spencer says. He looks forward to meeting, playing and learning with the players and coaches on this year’s squad.
In addition to sports, Spencer enjoys board games, cooking and puzzles.
His favorite Rapids player is Drew Moor.
