Ryan Yim is in his third year as a partner on the Rapids SOCO Unified team. The 21-year-old University of Northern Colorado junior plays forward on the Rapids SOCO team and basketball in his spare time.
He has maintained a 3.9 GPA in college and was accepted into a very competitive athletic training program at UNC last fall.
He is also proud of his seven years of involvement in Special Olympics. “Volunteering for Special Olympics has allowed me to be grateful and not take anything for granted,” Yim said. “It allows me to take a step back and evaluate situations that come up in my daily life. Finally, these players prove year in and year out that they too can compete in sports at a high level.” Yim is looking forward to building relationships with players new to the team.
His favorite Rapids star is Chris Klute.
