Ashley Kane joins the Rapids SOCO Unified team as a defensive player. This is her first time participating in Special Olympics, though she has cheered on her sister, Brittany, from the stands for four years.
Kane is a 17-year-old junior at Brighton High School. She says her biggest accomplishment is earning her black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Kane looks forward to joining the squad to play soccer again. “I like listening, helping people and motivating people.”
Of Special Olympics, Kane says that it has helped her family grow because of the opportunities Brittany has experienced, and now Ashley has the chance to join her.
Kane enjoys singing and writing poems. Her favorite Rapids star is Shane O’Neill.
