Brittany Kane is a 17-year-old senior at Brighton High School. While she has been participating in Special Olympics for four years, this is her first season on the Rapids SOCO Unified team. The midfielder also competes in basketball, bowling, Tae Know Do and track and field.
Kane is most proud of receiving the Special Olympics Athlete of the Year award at Brighton High School and also being named Prom Queen. Additionally, Kane helps manage sports teams at school, and she enjoys airbrushing and leather work.
“Special Olympics has given me more opportunities to play sports and meet people,” Kane says. “It also helped get me more involved at school.” She is looking forward to making new friends and playing soccer again this season. “I like to help out whenever I can and put others before myself,” Kane says.
Her favorite Rapids star is John Berner.
