Tony Gonzales is a newcomer to the Colorado Rapids SOCO Unified Soccer team this season. The 18-year-old North High School (Denver) student has been competing with Special Olympics for five years.
In addition to soccer, Gonzales played baseball, basketball, varsity football and ran track. His proudest accomplishment has been making the varsity football team his freshman year of high school. Gonzales says that Special Olympics has changed his life because it has helped him learn how to help others of all abilities. He looks forward to getting in better shape through the Rapids SOCO Unified team.
Gonzales enjoys dancing and listening to music. His favorite Rapids player of all time is goalie Matt Pickens. “I know if I try hard enough, I can accomplish anything,” Gonzales says.
