Andie Zitek, an 11-year veteran of Special Olympics Colorado, rejoins the Rapids SOCO Unified team after playing during the 2012 inaugural season.
The South High School (Denver) graduate went on to Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell where she earned certifications in food service and child care while making the dean’s list each semester. She currently works at Warren Village day care.
The 19-year-old says that winning gold medals, making the Rapids SOCO Unified team and singing the National Anthem at a Rapids Unified game are some of her biggest accomplishments.
When she isn’t on the soccer field or participating in Special Olympics skiing, swimming or volleyball, she loves to listen to and dance to music and play with her niece.
Her all-time favorite Rapids players include Brian Mullan and Connor Casey.
