The Colorado Rapids and Special Olympics Colorado will kick off their fifth consecutive year together when the Rapids’ Unified Team faces off with the Philadelphia Union Unified Team on May 28 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
“We are very excited to continue our partnership with Special Olympics Colorado for a fifth consecutive year,” said Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey. “It has been a joy watching these amazing athletes for the last few years and as always, we are extremely proud to have them represent our Rapids colors for yet another season."
The unified team, which is comprised of players both with and without intellectual disabilities between the ages of 16 and 25, has received training from the Colorado Rapid’s players and coaches. The teams soccer matches are scheduled in conjunction with Rapids home games.

May 17 – Shop with a Jock, Dick’s Sporting Goods
May 28 – Game Day vs. Philadelphia Union, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
July 23 – Game Day vs. FC Dallas, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
August 26 – Game Day vs. Real Salt Lake, Rio Tinto Stadium
This exchange program not only provides Special Olympics athletes with top-level training and competitive experiences, but also offers MLS fans an opportunity to witness the talents and abilities of Special Olympics Colorado soccer players’ first-hand.
