Recap: Comeback falls short in Seattle

SEATTLE — The Seattle Sounders celebrated the return of Steve Zakuani with a big 2-1 victory to snap a nine-match winless run against the Colorado Rapids in front of 39,060 at CenturyLink Field on Saturday night. The Sounders built a 2-0 lead behind a pair of Mauro Rosales assists that were punctuated by Álvaro Fernández and Eddie Johnson, and withstood a late rally from the Rapids that included an Omar Cummings goal to bag all three points. Mullan, Zakuani find closure

Two moments in the Rapids match at Seattle Saturday night will be remembered much longer than any of the goals or other plays: when Sounders winger Steve Zakuani entered the field in the 86th minute, and after the final whistle, when Zakuani and Colorado midfielder Brian Mullan exchanged jerseys and embraced at midfield.
