Donate New Pajamas at Saturday's Game to Help Needy Kids!

COMMERCE CITY CO - The Colorado Rapids announced today that the club will partner with the Denver Chapter of the Pajama Program to raise a minimum of 5280 new pairs of pajamas and books for underserved children through the Rocky Mountain Pile of PJs a series of events and drives beginning with the Colorado Rapids 4th Fest at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The Rapids will host pajama drives at their home stadium in conunction with their home matches on Sat. July 4 and Sat. Sept. 5 to help Pajama Program reach their goal.
The Pajama Program is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Recipients are children in need many who reside in temporary housing facilities as they await adoption. Founded by Genevieve Piturro the organization is headquartered in New York New York. Since 2001 it has provided more than 350000 pajamas and 140000 books to children nationwide. There are currently 74 chapters in 42 states.
"We are thrilled to be in partnership with the Colorado Rapids to kick off our Rocky Mountain Pile of PJs campaign said Debbie Donaldson chapter president of the Denver Chapter of Pajama Program. "It is through partnerships like these that we will be able to serve more children in the Denver metro area give them a sense of love and caring at bedtime."
4th Fest opens with a Family Activity Zone outside the south end of the stadium featuring a stage with live bands picnics recreational sports food vendors beer garden a kids interactive zone and much more! Pajama-clad volunteers from the Pajama Program will be on hand to collect new pajamas (sizes ranging from toddlers to young adults are welcome) books and/or cash donations. Volunteers will also be stationed at the Gates B & G from 5:30-7:30pm.
Any fans donating will receive a special Rapids voucher to attend a future Rapids game. The fun continues at 7:00 p.m. when the Colorado Rapids take on the Chicago Fire with a special halftime performance of the popular annual mascot challenge. Colorado's most spectacular fireworks show and musical entertainment from local favorite "The Samples" close out the evening!
