Donate Soccer Gear to Needy Kids Tonight!

COMMERCE CITY CO - The Rapids in conjunction with the US Soccer Foundation Passback program and Soccer Dreams Without Borders will be collecting new and slightly used soccer gear prior to both of the Rapids' home games in May!
The collections started taking place at the Rapids vs. Real Salt Lake game on Saturday May 2 and will continue at the Rapids vs. Seattle Sounders match on Saturday May 23 at 7:30pm at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Every family who cleans out their closets and brings items of soccer clothing footwear equipment or other gear to donate will receive a buy-one get-one-free ticket voucher to an upcoming Rapids home game as well as an autorgraphed player card of Conor Casey the Rapids' Passback spokes-player!
Donation bins will be set up outside gates B and G at the stadium starting at 6:00pm at the game on Saturday May 23 (1 1/2 hours prior to kickoff).

The Rapids Passback Program is a joint effort between the club and the U.S. Soccer Foundation Eurosport and Major League Soccer to assist in meeting the soccer needs of all communities. Since its inception soccer gear has been collected and distributed to schools clubs and organizations throughout the country. Equipment collected has also been distributed to countries as far away as Africa and the ultimate goal is to collect and distribute a million items of soccer gear in the U.S.A.

Soccer Dreams Without Borders is a nonprofit 501c(3) located in Evergreen and they will be responsible for collecting the donated soccer gear and distributing the equipment to underserved children in Colorado Africa South America and Mexico. Through the medium of sport the league aims to help raise the confidence and self-esteem of orphans and vulnerable children. One of the primary objectives is to overcome the stigma that is attached to living on the street and assist them in assimilating with society.

The soccer gear that is donated during May at the Rapids games will be distributed to culturally- diversified soccer players in Colorado. Currently there are close to 100 kids from Catholic Charities Ecumenical Refugee and Immigration Services Inc. and afterschool programs registered with SDWB who will receive items from the soccer equipment donated.
Unfortunately many of the inner-city children who are very passionate about soccer cannot participate with an affiliated youth club due to a lack of transportation soccer equipment and/or economic reasons. By collecting soccer gear and donating it to those in need the Rapids and Soccer Dreams Without Borders are planning to resolve these issues in hopes that no kids with soccer dreams should be held back.
All Colorado Youth Soccer Clubs are encouraged to donate a complete set of their team uniforms when buying new uniforms to help us achieve our goal.

Don't forget to clean out your closets and bring your new used unwanted or unneeded soccer clothing equipment or gear to the Rapids' home games in May to truly make a difference in the lives of needy kids!
