Mastroeni Tears Quad at US National Team Camp Expected To Be Out 6-8 Weeks

CARSON Calif. (From USSoccer.com) - U.S. midfielder Pablo Mastroeni has been diagnosed with a partially torn quadriceps in his left leg after suffering the injury during a crossing exercise yesterday morning.

He is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.

Kansas City Wizards midfielder Kerry Zavagnin has been called into the Carson camp as his replacement and will arrive Wednesday evening.

Mastroeni has 43 caps with the U.S. Mens National Team and the midfielder appeared in 11 games in 2005. He played in nine qualifiers for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and registered one assist.
