Match Preview: Rapids at LA Galaxy This Saturday

COMMERCE CITY CO (ColoradoRapids.com) - The Colorado Rapids travel to Los Angeles for the second time in 2 weeks as they head out to The Home Depot Center for their match against the LA Galaxy this Saturday night.
Saturday's match kicks off at 8:30pm MT and the match will only be televised via the MLS Direct Kick package (order now and get up to 130 MLS regular season matches for only $79!). For details on the official Rapids Away Game Viewing Party see the bottom of this page.
The Rapids and Galaxy meet on Saturday for the 51st time with the Rapids holding a 19-26-5 all-time record against the LA Galaxy in 13 years of competition. Colorado are 8-5-1 however since the beginning of 2005 season against the Galaxy. In LA the Rapids are 4-19-2 and last season the Galaxy won both regular season match-ups at their home stadium by 2-3 scorelines.
These two teams will become quite familiar with each other in the coming weeks as this will be the first of three matches between the two sides in the month of April. Following Saturday’s game the Rapids and Galaxy will again square off for the second time in 4 days in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Play-In match on Tuesday April 7. Then on April 25 the teams will face off against one another in Colorado at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for their final meeting of the regular season.
This weekend's game also marks the beginning of the Rapids' longest road swing of the season with three consecutive matches away from Colorado. After LA the Rapids travel to take on the holders of the last three MLS Cups going to Columbus on April 11 and Houston on April 19.
Coming off their victory over Kansas City Colorado are looking for their first back-to-back win of 2009 something the team only accomplished once all of last season (9/4 and 9/14).

The LA Galaxy return to action this Saturday after a week off. The Galaxy open this season with three straight home games which started with a 2-2 tie with D.C. United on March 22. Forward Landon Donovan continued his MLS Golden Boot-winning ways of last year in the season opener netting two goals against D.C. In 24 career games against the Rapids Donovan has recorded 7 goals and 8 assists.

Tied for second with Donovan on the MLS scoring leader board is Colorado forward Omar Cummings who will look to continue his scoring streak as he has registered a goal in each of the Rapids' first two games.
