Match Preview: Rapids Look to Douse Fire This Sunday

COMMERCE CITY COLO. (ColoradoRapids.com) - Your Colorado Rapids look to even up their season series vs. Chicago as they travel to Toyota Park this Sunday to take on the Fire.
Kickoff is set for 4:00pm MT at Toyota Park this Sunday August 23 and the match will be broadcast live in Colorado on Altitude.
Your Rapids return to league play after a bye weekend and will look to continue the fine form they displayed in their last match a 4-0 thrashing of Chivas USA on August 8.
Colorado head to Chicago tied with Chivas for the 4th spot in the Western Conference with a record of 8-6-6 for 30 points.

Chicago having played two more games on the season thus far than the Rapids currently occupy the 2nd spot in the East with a record of 9-5-8 for 35 points.
Your Rapids are 0-1-0 on the 2009 season vs. Chicago with their previous encounter resulting in a 2-1 loss on Independence Day at Dick's Sporting Goods Park Colorado's first home loss of the 2009 season.
Colorado hold an 11-15-5 all-time record vs. Chicago with an unenviable 3-12-1 all-time record when playing in the Windy City. The Rapids have not won a road game in this series since their 3-0 away victory on August 14 2004.
Despite not playing over the weekend Rapids forward Conor Casey still finds himself in the lead for the Budweiser MLS Golden Boot race with 11 goals this season in just 14 games played.
Also still retaining his #1 spot in the MLS standings is Rapids forward Omar Cummings who continues to lead the league with 10 assists on the season.
While the Rapids will have enjoyed 14 days off between games the Fire are playing their third game in eight days and are working off a quick turnaround that saw them drop a 2-0 loss to the LA Galaxy on Wednesday night at Toyota Park.
Sunday’s match will be just the second road contest the Rapids have played in over a month. Colorado have only played two away games in their last 10 regular season matches with their last road match coming at D.C. United back on July 18.
After this week the Rapids return to Colorado for two straight home matches before finishing the season playing five of their last seven games away from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
This game will be broadcast in Colorado on Altitude. Calling the game for Altitude will be Cory Lopez (play-by-play) and Marcelo Balboa (color).
