Rapids Acquire Eight Year MLS Veteran Defender Brandon Prideaux From D.C. United

DENVER (Friday December 15 2006) - The Colorado Rapids announced today that they have completed a trade with D.C. United for defender Brandon Prideaux a 167 game starter for United and Kansas City. In the deal D.C. receives a third round SuperDraft pick in 2007 and 2008.

Prideaux has played both left and right fullback in four- and three-man back lines during his time with D.C. United and the Kansas City Wizards. The University of Washington product has started in 167 of his 185 games and has logged 15446 minutes his MLS regular season career.

The Seattle native won the MLS Cup in 2000 with the Kansas City Wizards as he played the full 90 minutes of the championship match. In 2004 he also lifted the cup with D.C. United as a teammate of the current Rapids central defender Mike Petke.
