Rapids Foundation to Hold School Supply Drive at August 6 Home Game

DENVER (Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation) - The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation (CRCCF) and the Salvation Army need your help in collecting new school supplies for the coming school year!

At the Rapids home game vs. Los Angeles on August 6 the CRCCF will be collecting new school supplies and cash for Denver-area students in need.

The CRCCF will also offer fans the opportunity to win a Jean Philippe Peguero game-worn autographed jersey at the Rapids game collection site!

When: Saturday August 6 2005 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Where: Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium Gate 10 before the Colorado Rapids vs. Los Angeles Galaxy game (pre-game only).

How You Can Help: Bring your new school supplies to the collection site outside Gate 10 between 5pm-7pm on August 6th and enter to win the Peguero jersey (no donation necessary to enter the jersey drawing).

The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation also announced today that it is partnering with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to kick off its sixth annual Covering Kids & Families Back to School Campaign. 8.4 million children in the United States are uninsured.

Many of these children are eligible for low-cost or free health care coverage through Medicaid or the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). But because many eligible children are from working families their parents don’t realize their children are eligible for this coverage.

The CRCCF will make information on obtaining health care coverage for children available at a table inside Gate 10.

See you at the August 6 home game and don't forget to bring some new school supplies to donate to those in need!
