Rapids to Host "Stuff for Students" School Supply Drive at Home Game on Sat. Aug. 12
DENVER (Rapids Foundation Release) - The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation has partnered with 9News KUVO Telemundo and Volunteers of America in this year’s "Stuff for Students" School Supply Drive!
Fans can help students get the tools they need to succeed by bringing new school supplies to the Rapids Foundation table outside Gate 10 at the Rapids game on August 12th.
The school supplies collected during the Stuff For Students drive will be sorted by the Volunteers of America and then distributed directly to school districts or their education foundations. They will in turn give supplies to schools with students on the federal free and reduced cost lunch programs.
Most kids won't admit it but Back To School can be a fun time of the year. Sure summer break is over but for most children in Colorado starting a new school year means a fresh start with new friends and new supplies. That's not the case for everyone though. Some families can't afford the school supplies their kids require. That's why the Rapids are involved in Stuff For Students!
Below is a basic list of items needed by students at all grade levels.
· ruled filler paper/wide ruled and college ruled
· pocket folders
· black and blue pens
· #2 pencils
· pack of colored pencils
· pencil boxes
· crayons (24 count)
· colored markers
· white glue
· glue sticks
· scissors (all ages)
· hand pencil sharpeners
Parents are encouraged to contact their school's administrators if your child requires supplies.
Thanks and remember to bring your school supplies to the Rapids home game on Saturday August 12 to help kids in need!
