The Rapids had the first scoring opportunity of the game in the second minute. Pablo Mastroeni took a quick free kick from midfield that Jovan Kirovski held up until he found Terry Cooke. The Englishman took a shot with his first touch but it flew wide.
Mehdi Ballouchy came in as an early sub for Tony Sanneh who went down with an injury in the 13th minute.

Bouna Condoul gave himself his first work of the night when he took a goal kick and passed it right to the Revolution’s Adam Cristman. Brandon Prideaux pressured Cristman into shooting the ball right at Coundoul who made the save.

Colin Clark forced the first save out of Matt Reis in the 21st minute. The Fort Collins native took a shot from the top of the penalty area that Reis dove to his right to save.

Soon after Steve Ralston who was having a fine attacking game showed up in the New England penalty area as he got in front of a Mehdi Ballouchy pass to snuff out a Rapids scoring opportunity.

Before the hour mark Coundoul and the Rapids sustained heavy pressure for many minutes until the Senegalese goalkeeper held onto the ball.
In the 61st minute Ballouchy took a left-footed shot that Reis easily saved.

In the 72nd minute Terry Cooke took a corner kick that substitute Omar Cummings headed to the near post. However Andy Dorman was there to clear the shot off the line.

After 87 minutes of scoreless action Khano Smith snuck onto a Shalrie Joseph pass and flicked a shot between Coundoul’s legs for the goal and minutes later the 1-0 Revolution win.

The Rapids will next return to the friendly confines of Dick’s SportingGoodsPark where they are undefeated in their last four games to take on Toronto FC this coming Sunday October 7 at 6 p.m. The two teams will also play a reserve match approximately 30 minutes after the end of the first team game as part of a doubleheader on the night.
