Rapids Players and Coaches Give Thanks; Personal Thanksgiving Messages and Wishes From the Team

DENVER (Exclusive to Rapids.com) - It's that time of year again.......the MLS season has recently ended autumn is in full swing and Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

Since it's traditional for everyone to take a moment to think about what they are truly thankful for this year as well as give thanks for those family and friends in their life Rapids.com sat down with a handful of the Rapids players and coaches to ask them what they are truly thankful for this holiday season and if they had any special Thanksgiving wishes for Rapids fans!

Here's their responses below:

Head Coach Fernando Clavij "I am thankful for the strength and health to live another day and for seeing my kids developing into great human beings. On behalf of myself as well as my family Martha Jonathan and Nicolas I would like to wish all our fans and their families a great and happy Thanksgiving."

Midfielder #21 Matt Crawford: "Last Thanksgiving I was on a miltary base in Kentucky spending time with my cousin in his last days before going to Iraq. He has been stationed in Baghdad for the past year and it has been very difficult to maintain contact. As he's the same age as me we've spent the holidays together ever since I can remember. This week I received an email saying that he was out of Iraq and on his way back home. I'm grateful to hear of his successful return and I'm thankful for the opportunity to be reunited with family for the holidays."

Defender #33 Daniel Wasson: "I am thankful for the health and love of my family. I am also thankful for the successes and failures of my first professional season here with the Rapids. The successes have brought me happiness while the failures have brought me conviction to never allow them again. Thanks go out to my lord and savior for all he has done for me."

Defender #27 Stephen Keel: "I am thankful to have my family friends and myself all in good health. I am thankful to have such a great family and great friends who are nothing but supportive of me. I am thankful to be able to live in my home state play soccer and get paid to do it."

Defender #4 Dan Gargan: "During the holidays I am most thankful for family. Although the saying is true that you don't get to choose the ones you're related to I often find that is the most gratifying aspect of getting to learn about different people and love them for who they are. Conversely your family has that same opportunity with you. Spending time with loved ones over the holiday season could not be traded for anything in my eyes."

Goalkeeper #24 Bouna Coundoul: "Hey everyone this is Bouna currently visiting my family in Senegal for the first time in many years! I just wanted to wish everyone "Happy Thanksgiving". Once again thanks a lot for all the support you have given us throughout the whole season during both the rough and smooth times. Enjoy your time spent with friends and family this holiday and be well!"

Assistant Coach John Murphy: "I'm in Argentina scouting at the moment and will miss Thanksgiving this year. Especially being in a foreign country Thanksgiving will remind me of my family friends and the fortune of living in the US. We tend to take our culture and lifestyle for granted and Thanksgiving is always a good time to take stock of all the good things and people in our lives. This will be on my mind as I am far away from Boston (my hometown) Denver and the US. I wish all Rapids fans and their loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving from Buenos Aires!"

Goalkeeper #22 Matt Jordan: "I am most thankful for my incredible wife Lori and beautiful daughter Sydney."

Defender #16 Chris Wingert: "This Thanksgiving I am first and foremost thankful for the health of myself and my family. I am also thankful for the life God has blessed me and my family with and I am hopeful that all of my friends and relatives as well as our fans have a wonderful holiday."

On behalf of the entire Colorado Rapids organization to all of our fans thank for your support this year and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
