Rapids Reserves Close Out Season With 2-1 Loss to Real Salt Lake Reserves

COMMERCE CITY CO (Sunday October 26 2008) – The Colorado Rapids Reserves ended their 2008 campaign on Sunday morning falling 2-1 to the Real Salt Lake Reserves at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
After winning back-to-back Reserve Division championships in 2006 and 2007 this year’s Rapids Reserves finished the season 4-6-2.
The home side opened up the scoring in the 39th minute when John DiRaimondo played a beautiful ball from the Rapids’ side of the pitch into a sprinting Jacob Peterson down the left side. Peterson carried the ball 20 yards into the box and finished to the far post past an outstretched Chris Seitz.
Real Salt Lake were able to equalize and later grab the lead within a five minute span in the second half.
Brennan Tennelle finished Kevin Reiman’s pass in the box in the 58th minute to even the score at one apiece.
Tony Beltran knocked in the game-winner in the 63rd minute after Alex Nimo’s creative moves opened up the Rapids' backline creating space for Beltran to one-touch home the goal.
Colorado would play the final 16 minutes of the match a man down following a red card ejection on Stephen Keel due to his receiving a second yellow card for his tackle on Kevin Reiman.
