TODAY'S QUOTES FROM TRAINING
Today's quotes come from Rapids goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul who leaves tonight on his way to join the Senegalese National Team in Paris his first-ever call-up for his country:
"I’m excited. It’s my first time getting called to the national team. I’ve been watching the national team for a long time. I remember seeing those guys and saying to myself that ‘one day I want to play with these guys.’ Right now is the moment for it and I’m real excited to go there and do my ‘Bouna Time’ stuff.
"Since I joined the Rapids I let everyone back home know that there is a Senegalese goalie in the MLS since everybody else plays in Europe. This year (the Senegal coaches) started to hear a lot about me and some of the games made the highlights. They saw me and they liked me. Right now the coaches are looking for goalies. The (starting goalkeeper) right now has been there for a while and there is no backup.
"When I sent them stuff this year they said to me: 'We really need someone to be the backup goalkeeper.' But as for me I’m not going to Paris to be the backup. They don’t know what I’ve got. I’m going to be that starting goalie."
