Colorado (2-3-0 6 points) enter this week of MLS play as the #3 team in the West. DC are sitting on the same record as the Rapids (2-3-0 6 points) but currently sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
This will be the first encounter between the Rapids and DC in Colorado since the grand opening of Dick's Sporting Goods Park on April 7 of last year. In that match the Rapids christened their new jewel of a stadium with a 2-1 victory over DC with Herculez Gomez recording that historic inaugural goal in the Rapids' new home.
When last these two teams met it was at RFK Stadium in the nation's capital and the Rapids dropped a 4-1 road loss to United on June 28 2007.
The Rapids are 9-13-6 all-time vs. United and hold a 7-5-2 advantage when hosting them in Colorado.
