World Cup Group Draw on Dec. 9 to Be Broadcast to 320 Million People in 145 Countries
LEIPZIG Germany (AP) - Former Germany captain Lothar Matthaeus and model Heidi Klum are two of the stars that will take part in the World Cup draw ceremony on Dec. 9.
The draw will allocate the 32 qualified teams into eight first round groups for next year's tournament to be held from June 9-July 9.
Matthaeus the captain of Germany's 1990 champion team who holds a record 150 caps for his country will be one of the eight soccer greats to help with the group draw.
Klum will be one of the ceremony moderators while Colombian pop singer Juanes will sing in the entertainment part organizers said Thursday.
Organizers said the event will be broadcast to 145 countries with an audience estimated at 320 million.
