Commerce City, Colo. – Davy Armstrong may have taken the headlines for the Rapids Academy program this week, but two other youth players deserve their own recognition.

Rapids Academy players Dillon Serna and Bryan Windsor have each recently been called into and participated in youth national team camps.

Serna, a wide midfielder / forward who joined the Rapids Academy from adidas Alliance club Colorado Storm, is currently with the United States Under-17 team in Florida. He was identified by U.S. U-17 head coach Wilmar Cabrera while with the Rapids team at the 2010 SUM U-17 Cup in Houston last month and invited to Bradenton to try out for next year’s residency program.

Last month, 15-year-old Windsor took part in a U-16 camp for Switzerland. A dual citizen, the Boulder-native also participated in a U.S. U-15 camp last summer. Windsor played in the midfield for the Rapids U-16 Academy team last season despite being a year younger than most of his teammates.

Serna and Windsor are the seventh and eighth players on the Rapids Academy that have been called in to youth national team camps. The others are: James Rogers (U.S. U-15), Geno Bigelow (U.S. U-15), Ricardo Perez (U.S. U-14), Andrew Epstein (U.S. U-14), Oscar Montez (U.S. U-14 and 16), and Brendan Roslund (U.S. U-18).
