Rapids waive forward Ross Schunk

Second year forward free to sign with any team

Commerce City, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids waived second-year forward Ross Schunk on Wednesday after he was not claimed in the MLS Expansion Draft by either Portland or Vancouver.

A graduate of the University of Redlands (California), Schunk was the only Division III player invited to the 2009 MLS Combine and was drafted by the Rapids in the 4th round of the MLS SuperDraft (47th overall pick).

He appeared in three regular season games for Colorado in 2009, but tore his right anterior cruciate ligament during the 2010 preseason and missed the entire year.

Since Schunk does not meet the age and service requirement to participate in the re-entry draft in December, he is now free to sign with any team.
