COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, May 24, 2011) Colorado Rapids midfielder Sanna Nyassi has been called up to The Gambia National Team for an international friendly against Gabon on June 7 in west Africa. The 22-year-old will join The Gambia National Team on May 31 in Banjul, where the team will gather for a training camp before travelling to Gabon.

Nyassi made his first international appearance in a friendly against Angola on January 3, 2010, and has earned three total caps with The Gambia National Team. He was called in for a friendly against Equatorial Guinea on March 29, 2011 but a miscommunication on travel documents force him to miss the match. The match in Gabon will serve as preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September and October of 2011.

Nyassi has appeared in eight of the first 11 matches for Colorado this season, making two starts and six appearances as a substitute. He will not be available for the Rapids home match against Philadelphia on June 4 and could potentially miss the game in Portland againt the Timbers on June 11.
