Kimura Seeks to help Home Country Japan

Japanese defender selling t-shirts to raise money for relief efforts for homeland

Colorado Rapids defender Kosuke Kimura has initiated a fundraiser for his home country Japan, which continues to recover from a devastating earthquake and tsunami six months ago. Kimura is selling limited edition t-shirts which feature his number, 27, and his signature in the middle of “The Rising Sun”, a national symbol of Japan.

Fan will be able to purchase the Kimura t-shirts for only $8 during the Rapids game versus Real Salt Lake on Friday, October 14 at the Community Relations table at the top of Section 129. Kimura will personally autograph all the t-shirts purchased at a special post-game meet-and-greet for shirt buyers, which will also take place above Section 129.

One hundred percent of the net proceeds from Kimura's t-shirts will go to support organizations continuing the recovery and relief efforts in Japan, where many families still live in evacuation centers, temporary housing, and suffer from mental stress and trauma following the March disaster.
