Castrillon arrives in Colorado to continue negotiations
Commerce City, Colo. – Colombian Jaime Castrillón may soon be putting rumors of where he’ll play in 2012 to rest. The former Independiente Medellin attacking midfielder landed at Denver International Airport on Friday evening where he was met by Colorado Rapids head coach and fellow Colombian Oscar Pareja.
The Rapids technical staff will be meeting with Castrillon and his representative in person over the coming days to continue negotiations on a potential MLS contract.
Castrillón, 28, has scored over 50 goals in nearly 300 games with Medellin, including 11 in 2011. He also played with a team in China in 2009 and Once Caldas in Colombia in 2010.
On the international side, Castrillón has represented Colombia at the youth and senior level. He scored the winning goal in Colombia’s 1-0 victory over the United States in the 2007 Copa America and appeared in four 2010 World Cup Qualifying matches – against Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, and Bolivia.
