Former U.S. international Kamani Hill begins trial
Commerce City, Colo. - After leaving UCLA to begin his professional career in Europe, former U.S. international Kamani Hill (above) is looking to play in Major League Soccer. The 26-year-old began a trial with the Colorado Rapids today, along with former FC Dallas and Puerto Rico Islander midfielder Scott Jones.
Born in Berkley, Calif. born, Hill scored seven goals in 32 games while at UCLA, a team which also included current pro players Chad Barrett, Jonathan Bornstein, Jordan Harvey, Patrick Ianni, Sal Zizzo, and Rapids defender Marvell Wynne. The 6' forward left UCLA and signed with Vfl Wolfsburg in Germany in 2006. Hill then moved to Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães in 2009 and Desportivo Aves for the 2010-2011 season. He has two caps with the senior U.S. Men's National Team, playing in friendlies against China and Sweden in 2007.
The 29-year-old Jones (right) was selected by FC Dallas in the third round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. The Dallas-native did not appear in any first-team games with FCD and was released the following spring. He then signed with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the United Soccer League, where he has played since. He also played in five 2014 World Cup Qualifying matches for Puerto Rico last fall.
