Rapids sign forward Kamani Hill
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The Colorado Rapids announced on Wednesday that the club has signed Kamani Hill, a striker who has played in the German Bundesliga and with the U.S. National Team. The 26-year-old forward has been training with the Rapids for two weeks and is eligible to play for the club pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
“Kamani is a dynamic striker who adds depth to our attack,” said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. “Oscar Pareja and the coaching staff have had the chance over the last couple weeks to see Kamani in action, and we’re happy to have him join the squad.”
Hill, originally from Berkeley, Calif., played two seasons at UCLA from 2004-05, scoring nine goals and adding 13 assists in 40 games (32 starts). He then joined VfL Wolfsburg of the German Bundesliga, making his debut with the club in January of 2007. He made a total of nine appearances with the first team, as well as several with the club’s second team. He joined Vitória S.C. of Portugal in 2009, and was also loaned to Aves of the Portuguese second division in 2010.
The striker made a pair of substitute appearances with the U.S. National Team in 2007, first in a 4-1 win over China on June 2, 2007, and then in a 1-0 loss at Sweden on August 22, 2007. Hill also made several appearances with the U.S. Under-20 National Team in 2005.
