Jersey auction to support HelpColoradoNow.org underway

Bidding for July 4th game-worn jerseys runs through August 5 to support fire relief efforts

Commerce City, Colo. - The Colorado Rapids’ special, game-worn jerseys from the match on July 4th, which featured the Colorado state flag and HelpColoradoNow.org across the chest, are being auctioned off with proceeds benefitting organizations supporting disaster relief. The auction will run from July 20 to August 5, 2012, with proceeds going to charitible organizations through HelpColoradoNow.org.

The Rapids wore the unique jersey in an effort to help support fundraising efforts relating to the devastating wildfires throughout the state. HelpColoradoNow.org is a website that provides information on how to help Coloradans in need, whether through donations of money or materials, or by volunteering.

The jerseys worn by the 18 players on the roster that day - and autographed by the player - are included in the auction, with the first bid starting at $100 and with $10 incremental bids offered.

The following players' jerseys are available: Matt Pickens, Drew Moor, Hunter Freeman, Marvell Wynne, Tyrone Marshall, Luis Zapata, Jamie Smith, Jeff Larentowicz, Joseph Nane, Martin Rivero, Jaime Castrillon, Stew Ceus, Tony Cascio, Wells Thompson, Brian Mullan, Edu, Conor Casey, Omar Cummings.

HelpColoradoNow.org is a partnership between the Colorado Division of Emergency Management and the Colorado Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster which brings together government agencies and non-profit organizations to assist communities affected by disasters. It includes links to various organizations accepting donations of money and materials in their response to the wildfires, as well as information on volunteering to help the state recover from these disasters.
