Marshall: We need to stop allowing cheap goals, and finish

Veteran defender says team isn't playing consistent brand of soccer

COLORADO RAPIDS DEFENDER TYRONE MARSHALL

On team’s current play:

“We just haven’t been giving ourselves a chance lately. We aren’t playing a consistent brand of soccer that gives us a chance at winning. We need to tighten up defensively, stop allowing cheap goals and learn how to finish. We need to be stingy and not give the opposition anything. If we can do this, we can make a run.”

On second half:

“San Jose is a physical team and they showed it in the first half. In the second half, I felt we were starting to come back in the match and pick up momentum, then [Alan] Gordon beat the defense and beat the keeper on a slow roller to seal the win. When we couldn’t finish on our chances they countered and scored two more time and took us out of our game.”
