Rapids to host Faith & Futbol Night on Sept. 30

Former Liverpool player Gary Evans to speak, Christian music singer McDonald to perform

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, September 19, 2012) –The Colorado Rapids and Colorado Christian University have teamed up to present Faith and Futbol Night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Sunday, September 30. The event, hosted with the help of 91.1KLOVE and 101.9 WAY-FM, features a live performance from Shawn McDonald, and a testimonial from Gary Evans, head soccer coach at CCU, immediately following the Colorado Rapids vs. LA Galaxy match, which takes place at 5 p.m. MT in the stadium.

DISCOUNTED TICKETS FOR FAITH & FUTBOL NIGHT

Faith and Futbol Night, which will be held in the grass and parking lots on the Southeast side of the stadium, will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Throughout the event there will be prizes and giveaways, which include Rapids tickets and signed merchandise. The Shawn McDonald performance begins after the game, at approximately 7:00 p.m., and will be followed by a speech from Gary Evans. Evans, who began his career as a player with the Liverpool Football Club, spent time playing in the North American Soccer League (Edmonton), the American Soccer League (California Sunshine), and the Major Indoor Soccer League (Cleveland) before joining the coaching staff at CCU in 1996.

Shawn McDonald, a contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter and guitarist from Eugene Oregon, released his first album, “Simply Nothing” in 2004.
