Rapids to face Chivas USA in preseason match in Las Vegas
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Monday, December 10, 2012) –The Colorado Rapids will face Chivas USA on February 15, 2013 in the 2013 Las Vegas ProSoccer Challenge, the first annual event hosted by USA Sevens LLC and the City of Las Vegas. The preseason exhibition will take place at Sam Boyd Stadium on the UNLV campus in Las Vegas, and presale tickets are now available for just $10 by CLICKING HERE. (promocode: MLS)
“The Rapids are pleased to be heading to Las Vegas for what should be a great preseason match,” said Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey. “We have a great partnership with the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club and we’re excited to be able to play in front of those players and their families.”
This will be the Rapids’ first trip to Las Vegas since the team played Real Salt Lake to a scoreless tie in a 2007 preseason match. The Rapids also played Mexican club Santos Laguna in Las Vegas in 2003, which Colorado won 2-0 in front of 6,122 fans, also at Sam Boyd Stadium at UNLV. The Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club has been a Rapids adidas Alliance partner since 2010.
The exhibition against Chivas USA in Las Vegas joins a series of matches in Tucson on the preseason schedule for the Rapids, as the team has previously announced that it would participate in the Desert Friendlies presented by FC Tucson starting in late January. The Rapids are currently preparing for the 2013 season, and hold the sixth overall pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, to be held on January 17 in Indianapolis.
