14 Rapids Academy players announce intentions to play college soccer
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, February 6, 2013) – The Colorado Rapids announced today that 14 players from the club’s Under-18 Teams have committed to play college soccer starting this fall, including 13 at the Division I level. The players formalized their intentions in a National Signing Day ceremony at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday evening.
“Five years ago we launched our Academy with a competitive Under-14 Team, and the core players from that group are now moving on to college,” said Rapids Academy Director Brian Crookham. “This is a special day for these players and for the program to see its first class to come all the way through our Development Academy system.
