Drew Moor on returning from suspension: I've got to win my spot back
It was the first time the ironman defender did not play in two consecutive regular season matches since 2007 while with FC Dallas, when he missed FCD's games on June 30 and July 4 while with the U.S. Men's National Team at the Copy America tournament in Venezuela.
"It's one of those things that I'm not use to," Moor said of watching the Rapids' past two games from the suite level. "It gives you a new perspective on things and makes you re-evaluate yourself and re-evaluate what you're giving to this club. I've thought about it the whole time and I realize I want to give more. I'm certainly ready to put this time behind me and move forward. Saturday will be a good place to start that, no matter where I start the game from."
Coach Oscar Pareja said on Wednesday that he has not decided yet if Moor will start against Chivas USA on Saturday now that he's available after the team posted consecutive positive results in his absence.
"If you miss time, whether you're suspended or injured or going through a poor run of play, other guys are hungry to step up," Moor said. "Our squad has done extremely well the last couple of games. We should have won the Portland game, won a huge derby game against Salt Lake, and I thought the back four did extremely well."
As the team's alternate captain and three-time Rapids defender of the year, Moor is embracing the opportunity to show his desire to get back on the field.
"I've got to win my spot back," Moor said. "I'm a competitor and I want this team to get three points every time we play a game. But I also want to be playing and I want to give everything I have for this club, for this team, for this coaching staff, and for these players, whether that's from the press box, from the bench, or from the field. And I'm going to do everything I can to make sure it's from the field."
Saturday's match against Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center will be shown live on Altitude2 with the pregame show starting at 8 p.m. MT and kickoff at 8:30 p.m. MT. The official away game viewing party will be The Armoury in Denver.
