Matchday Welcome: Rapids host Sounders

President Tim Hinchey welcomes fans back to Dick's Sporting Goods Park today at 4 p.m.

Rapids Fans:

Welcome to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for our match against the Seattle Sounders! It’s a beautiful day for soccer and we’re thrilled to have you here today. As our team goes for a third straight win, we count on your support in the stands to inspire our lads and drive the team forward.

We’re having a special event at the stadium today, as we welcome back and celebrate all four of our Gallery of Honor members. The Gallery of Honor is our version of a hall of fame, and we’ve recently moved the signs commemorating these players from the north end of the stadium to high up on the west side. If you look up, you’ll see the names and numbers of Marcelo Balboa, Paul Bravo, Chris Henderson and John Spencer, and all four players are here today and will be celebrated at halftime. We’d like to thank Chris for taking time out of his work with the Sounders to participate, and John for making the trip here to Colorado!

All four players also played in our first annual #RapidsMediaCup on Friday night at the stadium. It was a great event that included Rapids alums including the Gallery of Honor members, Rafael Amaya, Terry Cooke, and Ritchie Kotschau, as well as the Rapids coaching staff and many members of our local media. We all had a great time and want to thank everyone for participating.

Thanks again for coming out to today’s match, and please visit Eighteen76 (formerly known as the Cantina) following the game for a chance to meet and get autographs with our Man of the Match and the four Gallery of Honor members. You’ll also get a chance to see our Reserves take on the Harrisburg City Islanders in the first ever MLS vs. USL Reserve League game. As always, visit www.ColoradoRapids.com for the most up-to-date information on the team!

Come on you Rapids!
