Reserves: Rapids and Real Salt Lake play to scoreless draw

Several chances for both teams not enough to get on the board

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Saturday, April 6, 2013) – The Colorado Rapids Reserves played to a 0-0 tie with Real Salt Lake Reserves on Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Both teams had several chances; Rapids midfielder and Homegrown Player Dillon Serna had two left footed shots that went wide and high of the net, and Salt Lake’s Yordany Alvarez had two shots barely skim the top of the net.

Rapids Academy players Bryan Windsor and Ricardo Perez both got valuable playing experience. Windsor, who is committed to play at Princeton University in the fall, played 24 minutes coming on as a sub for Tony Cascio.  Perez, who has intentions to play at Creighton University, came on in the 77th minute for Anthony Wallace.

The tie brings the Rapids Reserves to 1-1-1 and second in the West Division of the MLS Reserve League. Their next match is on April 20 against the Harrisburg City Islanders of USL Pro League at 7 p.m., after the Colorado Rapids take on the Seattle Sounders FC at 4 p.m. MT. The Real Salt Lake Reserves, now 2-0-1 and first in the West, will next face Vancouver Whitecaps FC at 11 a.m. at UBC Thunderbird Stadium on April 14.
