Colorado Rapids forward Edson Buddle has played 255 regular season games and scored 95 career goals. In 12 seasons he's only been shown 19 yellow cards - less than two per year - and never been ejected from a match.

However earlier this week, the MLS Disciplinary Committee suspended Buddle for one game after reviewing a play in which he was shown a yellow card against the Columbus Crew on May 11.

"I've never received a red card in a League game," Buddle told ColoradoRapids.com. "I'm sure they reviewed the play with a panel of people that look over it thoroughly, and that's what they came up with. I don't necessarily agree with the decision, and I'm sure some people here in Colorado disagree."

The Rapids won the match 2-0 thanks to an early goal from Buddle and another from Dillon Powers.

Buddle post-game: Road wins don't have to be pretty

Buddle will miss the Rapids' match on Saturday against the San Jose Earthquakes (8:30 p.m. MT, Altitude TV). But after scoring the game-winning goal in the last two matches, the veteran forward doesn't expect that missing one game will disrupt his return to form the following week when the Rapids host Chivas USA.

"I think I can jump right back in," Buddle said. "I wouldn't say I was on a run, it was just two games. Maybe there's a reason why I'm not playing. This is a learning experience and hopefuly won't make the same decision again."
