Las Vegas Rapids U-14 girls win Real Colorado Cup

Downtown Las Vegas girls take home hardware and 5-0-0 record

The Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club Rapids won the Girls U-14 Bronze division in the 2013 Real Colorado Cup  held at various soccer complexes in Colorado over Memorial Day Weekend. They finished the tournament with an overall record of 5-0-0, the only team among 10 in the division to win more than three games.

On Saturday, the Rapids defeated Pride SC Red 6-0 and Pikes Peak Rush Swoosh 2-0, with a hat trick in the first game from Katelyn Laurente. On Sunday, they beat Colorado Storm North 3-0, with another hat trick from Laurente, and then Rocky Mountain Cougars 3-2. With an undefeated record, they advanced to the final against Colorado Storm Yellow on Monday and won 4-2 to take home the championship.

The U-14 girls were one of four Downtown Las Vegas teams to participate in the tournament. The U-12 and U-18 girls both finished with a record of 0-1-3 in the Real Cup, and the U-16 girls, who participated in the Colorado Showcase (a college scouting event), went 0-0-3.
