The Colorado Rapids and midfielder Martín Rivero received good news on Tuesday, when tests on the 23-year-old revealed no structural damage to his right foot, which he injured in Saturday night’s game against Chivas USA. The soft tissue injury means that Rivero is day-to-day as he rehabilitates and returns to play.

"I'm very happy because I had a good scare during the game," Rivero told ColoradoRapids.com Tuesday afternoon. "When I heard the news that it wasn't anything major it was a relief - it would have been very unfortunate had I broken it again. So now I'm a little calmer and already thinking about recovering from this pain I have and getting back to the team in the best way possible."

Rivero said the main reason for the scare was because he felt pain on his foot after planting and turning, which is how he broke the same foot in a January preseason match. Rivero was able to walk off the field when replaced in the 44th minute, but he immediately sat down on the sideline, holding his head thinking the worst.

"At the moment of the match when I felt the pain again, I thought I had broken my foot again," Rivero said. "It was a sharp pain on the part of my foot where I had the surgery. It's very bothersome and makes it difficult to walk."

The Argentine missed nearly three months following surgery from the original fracture before returning to the field in the Rapids’ 1-1 draw in Houston on April 28. An x-ray taken on Sunday revealed that Rivero had not broken any bones in his foot.

"Now I'm waiting for the pain to subside and working with the team medical staff to get back out there," Rivero added. "The pain has decreased a lot already and I feel much better than yesterday and Saturday, so I'm very happy."

The Rapids are have been on a positive run of results over the two months, including 3-0-2 since Rivero returned to the field.
