The Colorado Rapids Women will begin their second season on Saturday, May 25 with their season opener against Colorado Rush at 4 p.m. on Field 20 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The game will be played as a double header with the Colorado Rapids, who take on Chivas USA at 7 p.m. inside the stadium, and fans can buy a special ticket package that includes entry to both matches by clicking here.

The Rapids Women will be led by Head Coach Daniel Clitnovici once again, who has brought back many returning players to the squad as well as several new faces. Among the returners are captain and Australia Women’s National Team member Brooke Spence, and Erin Gunther, the 2012 season leading scorer (six goals) and former Creighton University standout. The team will play 12 matches, six at home, during the regular season. Last year, the Women finished 4th with a record of 6-4-4 (W-L-T).

In addition to facing local rivals Colorado Rush, the 2013 season schedule features matchups against Western Conference opponents Bay Area Breeze, LA Strikers, Pali Blues, Santa Clarita Blue Heat and Seattle Sounders Women. Tickets to all home matches are on sale by visiting www.ColoradoRapids.com/women.

The Colorado Rapids Women began play last season as a result of a partnership between the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club and Colorado Force FC. The organization was rebranded into the Colorado Rapids Women in early 2012 and they participate in the W-League, the longest-running women’s soccer league in North America.
