Sueno MLS: Six to represent the Colorado Rapids at National Finals this week in LA

Top field player and goalkeeper will be announced Sunday live on Republica Deportiva

NEW YORK & LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, May 7, 2013) – Some of America’s most talented young soccer players - including five representing the Colorado Rapids - will travel to Los Angeles this week for the National Finals of Sueño MLS 2013 – Presented by Allstate, the nationally-televised search for the best young soccer players in the country.

The 18 National Finalists, which include 15 field players and three goalkeepers chosen from the nearly 3,000 trialists from across the country, will head to The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA from May 9 to 12 for four days of competition and mentoring by top soccer legends, including Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama, former U.S. National World Cup defender Jeff Agoos, former Mexico National Team goalkeeper Felix Fernandez and MLS’ Technical Director Alfonso Mondelo.  The field players will be battling for the Sueño MLS 2013 – Presented by Allstate trophy while the three goalkeepers are vying for the Allstate “Good Hands®” top goalkeeper - El Portero Allstate award.

In late April, Eric Barragan, Brian Loaiza, Juan Hernandez, Brayan Arreola, and Gilberto Tovar were selected at the top five field players and Daniel Ontiveros as the goalkeeper from the Sueno tryouts at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. All five spent last week training with the Rapids Academy teams in preparation for the finals.

In LA the players will train twice on Thursday and once on Friday in addition to scrimmage the LA Galaxy Academy teams on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Both winners - the field player and goalkeeper - will be announced live on Sunday, May 12 on Univision Network’s República Deportiva (10 am MT), which has chronicled the competition in a “reality show within a show” format.
