The W-League announced its Team of the Week on Wednesday, naming Colorado Rapids Women midfielder Erin Gunther W-League Player of the Week for her role in the Rapids' season opening 3-2 victory over in-state rival Colorado Rush on May 25 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Gunther was a force on the field, playing a role in all three of the Rapids goals, including one of her own in the 40th minute of the match.

Gunther, a 2011 graduate of Creighton University and a three-year member of the Rapids, edged out New Jersey Wildcats forward Jessica Fuccello, who tallied two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win vs. North Jersey. Atlanta’s Rachel Garcia earned the other forward slot after her goal against VSI Tampa Bay.

The Rapids Women are back in action next week as they take to the road for three matches in California. The team's next home match is on June 14 against the Seattle Sounders Women, and tickets are available now.
