Jaime Castrillon nearly scored equalizer on diving header in first game back
Colorado Rapids Midfielder Jaime Castrillon after playing his first game of the season - following off-season knee surgery - in a 2-1 loss to San Jose:
On entering the match:
"Coach sent me in to go forward since we were losing the game. We had a few chances to score in the final minutes. I had an opportunity to score but unfortunately the goalkeeper made the save.(Coach Pareja) sent me in to help with our aerial game. Earlier I made a run to the front post to draw a defender so Nathan could arrive in a great position to score his goal. We had a few more good plays but unfortunately we could not find the tying goal."
On his return to the field:
"Seven months without the opportunity to play and now I finally was able to get minutes in an official game. I am very happy because I’ve been playing with my teammates and with the reserves, but now in it is in an official league game. It wasn’t the result that we wanted but now I will continue working to break into the starting lineup. It won't be easy because my teammates are all doing very well, but I will work very hard so that when I enter games I can help the team."
On the crowd's reception as he entered the game:
"I was very happy because of the support of the fans in my return after such a long time without playing. It felt great to enter the field, like it was my first professional game. I was nervous because I missed so much time but thank God I had the opportunity to play in the game. I think I played well and I had the chance to score, this time it didn’t go in, but the goals will come."
