Matchday Welcome: Rapids host FC Dallas tonight
Thank you for coming out to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on another beautiful Saturday in Colorado. We were thrilled to see so many of you for last weekend’s 2-0 win over Chivas USA, and with another capacity crowd on hand today, we are all grateful for your support. A special welcome tonight is due to the many participants in MLS Futbolito, a 4v4 tournament that took place all day today on the outer fields here at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Congratulations to all the participants!
Tonight’s match is a great opportunity for our team to turn a few more heads, as well as redeem ourselves after the disappointing loss in the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday. Our recent results have shown the rest of the league that the Rapids are a force to be reckoned with, with a five-match unbeaten streak in MLS, and a 5-1-3 record in our last nine games. This is a credit to Oscar Pareja and the players for doing so well under difficult circumstances. Facing FC Dallas tonight gives us a chance to avenge a loss we suffered on the road in the first match of the season and take down the top team in the Western Conference.
There are a couple fundraisers going on that I’d like to draw attention to, the first of which benefits benefit victims of the Moore tornado, which affected members of our soccer family. The easiest way to contribute is to follow this link or to text “SOCCER” to 41444 to donate $10. We’re also continuing our fundraising effort for the Rocky Mountain USO, and you can participate by stopping by the USO booth at the top of Section 127 to donate $5 to the cause, and receive a voucher for a free 20 oz. Coca-Cola product in return.
After tonight’s match, the first team isn’t in action again until we’re back here at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on June 15 against the San Jose Earthquakes, so get your tickets early for that match. Coming up, our Reserve team will play against the Harrisburg City Islanders in Pennsylvania next weekend – stay on ColoradoRapids.com for more information on that one. Remember we’ve also got fireworks for our two home games on July 4 and July 7!
Again, thank you for coming out to tonight’s match. Remember to stop by Eighteen76 (formerly known as the Cantina) after the game to meet the Man of the Match, or watch for players around the field after the final whistle to get an autograph. And if any of us can help make your experience at the game better, please don’t hesitate stop us, or to contact Rapids Customer Service above Section 129. Come on you Rapids!
