Rookie Dillon Powers scored his fourth goal and added another assist in win over LA

Powers says first-half goal set the stage to come out and expose LA in second half

Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Powers following 2-0 home win versus LA, in which he assisted on one goal and scored another:

On the game:

"We wanted to come out in the first half with urgency because we felt that’s something we lacked. And we had some moments in the first half we thought were good. Getting that first half goal off a set piece was big for us because they had to come out and play a little bit more and we knew we could expose them a little bit in the second half."

On how he played:

"It’s really nice to score these goals and get an assist. My teammates helped me out a lot in that one. Hendry scored the goal, great header. And Edson really put me through, all I had to do was put it away. So you know, credit to my teammates here. In practice this week, we actually worked on breakaways with guys on your back, so it applied perfectly to the game and I knew what to do."

On the success he has had in his rookie season:

"I had no idea what to expect, really. I was just hoping for an opportunity and I’ve gotten a great one here and I’m trying to make the most of it."

On next week’s game for the Rocky Mountain Cup:

"I think we have to bring it back and you know we’re in a great position to do so at home, probably in front of a great crowd. I’m super excited about it. That’s all you want as an athlete and as a soccer player is that kind of game."
